Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the DTTASA Portal at portal.dttasa.org and its iOS / Android applications (together, the "Portal"). By signing in or otherwise using the Portal you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Portal.

1. Eligibility

The Portal is provided to current staff, volunteers, interns, governance members, contractors and authorised applicants of the Diaspora Together Trust and Support Association ("DTTASA"). You must be at least 18 years old.

2. Your account

• Accounts are issued by HR or IT. You may not create one yourself outside an authorised recruitment workflow.
• You are responsible for keeping your password, security PIN and any signed-in device secure.
• You must notify it@dttasa.org immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
• You may not share your account, your authentication PIN, or your signed-in device with anyone.

3. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Portal for any unlawful, fraudulent, or unauthorised purpose.
• Attempt to bypass authentication, App Check, Firestore rules, audit logging, or any security control.
• Probe, scan, scrape, or test the vulnerability of the Portal without prior written authorisation.
• Upload malware, executable code, or content that violates intellectual-property or privacy rights.
• Disclose confidential HR, financial, governance or member data outside the Portal except where required by your role.
• Misrepresent your identity, role, or authority.

4. Confidentiality

The Portal contains personal data of staff, members and applicants, plus DTTASA's internal financial, operational, governance and grant information. All of it is confidential. Your duty of confidentiality survives the end of your engagement with DTTASA. Breach of confidentiality is a disciplinary offence and may be unlawful under the NDPA 2023.

5. Intellectual property

The Portal, its design system, its source code, its content (other than data you contribute), and the DTTASA name and marks are owned by DTTASA. You receive a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the Portal solely for DTTASA-related work during your engagement. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, decompile or reverse-engineer any part of the Portal.

6. Content you submit

You retain ownership of content you create (notes, comments, attachments). By submitting it you grant DTTASA a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, process and back it up for the purpose of operating the Portal and meeting our statutory retention obligations. You confirm you have the right to submit it.

7. Location services on the iOS and Android apps

The Portal's mobile applications request access to your device's location only while the app is in use. We use location data exclusively for the following purposes:

• Clock-in and clock-out verification — to confirm that a shift attendance record is being created at the expected workplace. A coarse latitude and longitude is recorded against the shift log at the moment you tap "Clock In" or "Clock Out".
• Presence at the workplace — during an active shift, the app may periodically update your presence status to your line manager (visible in the rota dashboard) so cover can be arranged promptly if a colleague leaves the premises unexpectedly.

The following protections apply at all times:

• Location is never collected in the background or when the app is closed.
• You may decline location permission and continue to use every other feature of the Portal; only the on-device shift-verification convenience is reduced (your manager will simply confirm attendance manually).
• Location data is stored only inside DTTASA's Firestore database alongside your shift record. It is never shared with advertisers, never sold to data brokers, and never used for any purpose unrelated to shift verification.
• You may revoke location permission at any time through your device's system Settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → DTTASA Portal) without affecting your account.

By using the iOS or Android app and granting location permission, you consent to the limited processing described above. Withdrawing that consent does not retrospectively delete shift logs already created; you may request their removal as part of a standard data subject access or erasure request under our Privacy Policy.

8. Suspension and termination

• DTTASA may suspend or terminate your access at any time for breach of these Terms, security risk, or end of your engagement.
• You may close your account at any time from My Hub → Settings → Delete My Account, or by emailing privacy@dttasa.org.
• Termination does not relieve you of your confidentiality obligations or DTTASA's statutory retention obligations.

9. Availability

We aim for the Portal to be available 24/7 but do not guarantee uptime. Planned maintenance is announced in-app. We are not liable for losses caused by downtime, network issues or third-party outages (Firebase, Apple, Microsoft, ISPs).

10. No warranty / limitation of liability

The Portal is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, DTTASA's total liability arising out of or in connection with the Portal is limited to (a) the amount you paid DTTASA in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to liability, or (b) NGN 100,000, whichever is lower. DTTASA is not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.

11. Privacy

Your use of the Portal is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated at least 14 days in advance via in-app notice and email to your @dttasa.org address.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute not resolved by good-faith discussion will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
